He groomed her from the age of 12 after her parents were murdered, making her the perfect killing machine.īut Renji didn’t like that Kate was exploring retirement after the Yakuza job, as she was a loose end that could link back to his coup and Varrick, so he decided to poison her without Varrick’s approval. As for the poisoning, Varrick ends up lashing out at Renji over this because he didn’t want Kate dead. Renji is that opportunity, which is why they paired up to deceive everyone. It’s a place of rest, reconciliation and meditation for him, but when Kate confronts him, all she has is vengeance on her mind. Kate slaughters a lot of Yakuza agents to get to the boss and discovers he’s held up in the Hottazaka hills outside of Tokyo at his family’s old residence.
